GUWAHATI: International Hindu Parishad (IHP) president Praveen Bhai Togadia raised the demand for a fresh NRC (National Register of Citizens) by taking 1951 as the cut-off year.

Taking to the media here today, Togadia said, "One nation cannot have two cut-off years for foreigners – 1951 for the rest of India and 1971 for Assam. The government should start the NRC process soon. It should detect all Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators, keep them in isolation camps and deport them to Bangladesh, besides strictly implementing the two-child norm.

"I hope the government can make Assam free from Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators within a year. If the government cannot do that, another film, 'Assam Files', will come up after twenty years in-line with 'Kashmir Files'. However, I won't allow that to happen.

"I welcome 'Kashmir Files' as a film. It has exposed the incidents in Kashmir in the 1990s. However, it is the certificate for the 32-year-long failure of the Central Government. It failed to rehabilitate the Kashmiri Hindus in the past 32 years. The need of the hour is waging war against the Islamic insurgents to save Kashmiri Hindus."

Meanwhile, Togadia hailed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for making government and xatra lands free from Bangladeshi encroachers in the state. Togadia also appreciated the State government for its anti-narcotic drive, the ban on financial grants to Madrassas etc.

He said that the IHP would start a national self-employment forum under which it would provide employment avenues to 1,000 people (initially) from 100 locations in Assam. "It will also help the indigenous manufacturers of the state to produce self-help products for selling Sualkuchi silk, handloom gamosa, mekhela, seleng etc., in the rest of India," he said.
