President Draupadi Murmu presents National Florence Nightingale Awards for 2022 and 2023

The President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the years 2022 and 2023 to nursing professionals at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

 SHILLONG: The President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the years 2022 and 2023 to nursing professionals at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

Smt. Reliance Pyrngap from Meghalaya received the National Florence Nightingale Award for the year 2022 for her dedicated service. Smt. Pyrngap has more than 35 years of service, both as an ANM and LHV. She has served the communities of Saipung Primary Health Centre and is currently posted at Sunga Community Health Centre, East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat, Meghalaya.

She is efficient in her job and goes beyond the call of duty to serve her community. Her leadership, hard work, initiative, and empathy are commendable. She has saved many women's lives during complicated childbirth. She has updated herself by attending various CNE programmes at the national, state, and District levels. Smt. Reliance Pyrngap's service to the community is highly appreciated by the public and district authorities.

Speaking to PIB Shillong, Smt. Pyrngap expressed her happiness as she said, "I am elated and deeply grateful to be given this recognition for my hard work, and I try to give a hundred percent from the beginning till the end of the year," while adding, Obviously, it is impossible to give a hundred percent, but that does not stop me from working as hard as possible, which I feel has resulted in this award."

"I want to tell my colleagues to continue giving their best in their work and that they too will be recognised for this very important service that we provide to society," she adds.

Expressing her gratitude to the Government of India and the Government of Meghalaya for selecting her for this honour, Smt. Pyrngap says, "This is the government's recognition of my hard work."

The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in 1973 as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by nurses and nursing professionals to society. (PIB)
