Principal Secretary To Assam Govt IAS Officer Rajesh Prasad No More

GUWAHATI: Principal Secretary of Assam's Excise, Irrigation, Soil Conservation and Chairman, SLNA, WDC-PMKSY Rajesh Prasad, IAS, passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday due to Covid-related complications. He was 52.

As per a doctor's statement, the senior IAS officer passed away at around 2:30 pm. He was undergoing treatment since July 22. Prasad, who hailed from Bihar, was an IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre of the 1995 batch. He served in several key posts during his service life.

He is survived by his wife and son.

The mortal remains have been brought to the IAS Colony at Khanapara here, where his colleagues laid wreaths and paid their respects. The cremation will take place tomorrow at the Nabagraha crematorium.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted his condolences. Sarma said, "Deeply saddened by the demise of Principal Secretary Rajesh Prasad, who passed away in Guwahati due to post-Covid complications. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. May his atman attain sadgati. Om Shanti!"

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam's Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also extended their condolences at Prasad's demise. Agriculture Minister Atul Bora also condoled the death of Prasad, and said, "He was a skilled and loyal administrative officer taken away from us by destiny." Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya also condoled the death of the IAS officer.
