NAGAON: The Nagaon district administration constituted a task force to streamline the distribution of subsidized fertilizer among the target beneficiaries.

The task force comprises police officials, a district agriculture officer, agriculture development officers and a nodal fertilizer officer. The task force supervises and examines the distribution of the subsidized fertilizers among the farmers in the district.

The objective is to root out all irregularities and anomalies in the distribution of subsidized fertilizer by a section of shopkeepers (outlets) in the district.

Acting on tip-offs, the task force led by Premeswar Nath and Senior ADO Dilip Bora intensified operations across the district since Wednesday. It raided various fertilizer outlets.

During the raid on Wednesday at 'Bor Laskar Agro Store' situated at Chuta Rupahi and 'Saiful Krishan Fertilizer' in the Itapara area, the officials found irregularities and anomalies in the distribution of subsidized fertilizer allocated for farmers by the government.

Meanwhile, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Tarun Hazarika cancelled the licenses of both the outlets with immediate effect for an uncertain period.

DAO Hazarika urged the stakeholders and fertilizer outlets to follow the guidelines for the distribution of subsidized fertilizers. He cautioned them that the department would initiate strict measures against those flouting the guidelines.
