GUWAHATI: To streamline the fertilizer distribution system in the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid stress on rationalizing the distribution of dealerships of fertilizer and setting up rake points at railway stations. He asked the fertilizer companies to visit the sites to be identified by the State government for development as rake points within seven days and make suggestions for improvement of the points wherever necessary.
The Chief Minister said this at a meeting with representatives of fertilizer companies, including BVFCL and IFFCO, in the presence of Agriculture Minister Atul Bora at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati today.
The Chief Minister further directed the Agriculture Department to develop an integrated online system to monitor the distribution of fertilizer by the companies up to the point of retailers.
The CM said that from now onwards allotment of fertilizer will be made by the government as per requirements prepared by the District Agricultural Officers and accordingly the companies will distribute fertilizer to the districts. He also asked the department to hold State level Fertilizer Distribution Meeting every month to sort out all issues related to fertilizer distribution, a press release said.
