GUWAHATI: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Borjhar on Thursday warned that thunderstorm with lightening and heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya in the next 48 hours.
"Heavy to very heavy with extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura," said a scientist at RMC. He added that the rainfall will result in decline of the day temperatures during the Durga Puja festival.
The scientist also said that the rainfall would be a relief for the people as two low-pressure areas formed over the Bay of Bengal were causing the day temperatures to rise beyond the normal in many places in Assam and other NE States for the past three weeks. The RMC predicted that Guwahati and adjoining areas will have a cloudy sky with few spells of rain or thundershowers.
