GUWAHATI: Mission Basundhara 2.0 is evoking a response from the public. On the fifth day of the launching of the project by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today, the government received around 12,000 applications through its portal – www.rtps.assam.gov.in.
What is significant is that apart from the services made available in the first phase of Mission Basundhara, Mission Basundhara 2.0 is rendering several additional services.
Talking to The Sentinel, Revenue and Disaster (R&DM) Minister Jogen Mohan said, "Mission Basundhara 2.0 is indigenous people-friendly. Some indigenous people of the state are not conscious of land documents. Since the government has allowed the indigenous people to settle their land issues, they should avail themselves of this opportunity. Many indigenous people of the state have no land rights even though they possess lands for generations."
The minister said, "For the first time, the government is settling issues related to PGR (professional grazing reserves) and VGR (village gazing reserves) through Mission Basundhara 2.0. The people willing to settle land issues can get them done through Mission Basundhara 2.0. The government will receive applications online till January 10, 2023. And the government will dispose of the issues on or before December 31, 2023, in a mission mode."
Some of the additional services included in Mission Basundhara 2.0 are – the settlement of khas and ceiling surplus land,
settlement of occupancy tenants, settlement of special cultivators, settlement of hereditary land of Tribal communities, settlement of AP (annual patta) land from original AP holder, regularization of settlement of PGR and VGR lands, online payment of land revenue for villages under Tehsildar, etc.
