NUMALIGARH: In a tragic incident, a forester was gored to death by a rhino inside Kaziranga National Park (KNP) on Tuesday.
Like other days, Brikudor Bora along with two of his colleagues deployed at the Muna-Tongi forest camp under Kohora Range went for regular patrolling. All of a sudden, a rhino appeared in front of the patrolling team and charged at them. While two forest personnel escaped the attack Brikudor was gored to death by the charging rhino.
Brikudor Bora is from the Bogorijuri area of Kohora. He was to retire in a year. The death of the on-duty Forest personnel has been widely mourned across wildlife conservation communities and also in Kaziranga.
On the tragic incident, KNP Director P Sivakumar said, “Kaziranga is being conserved by dedicated frontline staff like Brikudor Bora. It’s a big loss to KNP. I extend my deepest condolences to his family members. KNP will provide all necessary support to his family. Forest Minister has assured necessary support to the victim’s family.”
