GUWAHATI: Teachers have opposed the State Government asking them to download RIIMS App for their biometric attendance. They said that this move would be an infringement of their privacy.

On September 29 this year, the SSA (Samagra Siksha, Asom) sent a letter to school authorities to make teachers download the App RIIMS. The downloading of this App will let the government observe the attendance of teachers and other staffers. However, teachers apprehend that this move will infringe on their privacy.

The teachers say that RIIMS is not a government-owned App. This App belongs to a private company – RNIT SOLUTIONS and Services Private Ltd. The teachers are not ready to allow a private company to infringe their privacy as the App seeks a lot of personal information for its download. They say that they have no objection to downloading the government-owned App, Diksha.

Sadou Asom Sanmilita Siksha Mancha (SASSM) said that while downloading the App RIIMS, it sought permission for accessing private information. It demands immediate cancellation of the move.
