Fund for Assam Farmers Under PM-Kisan Project: State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora has said that around 12.50 farmers' families of the State will get the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Talking to The Sentinel on Sunday, Bora said, "The Central Government has already sanctioned Rs 404-crore PM-KISAN funds for the farmers of Assam recently. The amount is being deposited directly to the bank accounts of the farmers. I thank the Centre for the sanctioning of the funds."

The PM-KISAN is an initiative taken by the Government of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 8th instalment of financial benefit on 14th May 2021 under the PM-KISAN scheme. A financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families under the scheme, payable in three equal four-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000 each.

The PM-Kisan scheme was launched by the Centre to augment the income of the Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs).

The PM-Kisan scheme aims to supplement the financial needs of the SMFs in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, commensurate with the anticipated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.
