20 rural bridges to cost Rs 69.35 crore

GUWAHATI: The Assam government, through the Government of India, has applied for financing from the World Bank towards the cost of constructing rural bridges in the state under the Assam Resilient Rural Bridges Programme (ARRBP).

The construction of rural bridges will be taken up in a phased manner under ARRBP, and 20 bridges will be constructed in the first phase. The cost of construction of these bridges will be borne by the World Bank, and Assam PWD’s Externally Aided Projects (EAP) division will undertake the construction.

According to PWD sources, a total of 1,000 rural bridges need to be constructed in the state. Of these, EAP will initially construct 20 bridges at an estimated cost of Rs 69.35 crore.

Meanwhile, the PWD has already issued a request for bids (RFB).

The sources said that, out of the 20 bridges due to be constructed, 1 bridge will be constructed in the Karbi Anglong district, 1 bridge in the Hojai district, 6 in Nalbari, 2 in Kamrup, 1 in Biswanath, 6 in Udalguri, and 3 in the Charaideo district.

The completion period of these bridges ranges from 12 months to 18 months and 24 months to 30 months.

The name of the work is given as follows: Karbi Anglong (1) bridge on NH 36 to Hembonglong: Hojai (1) bridge 2/1 on Old NH 54, from Doboka town to Nahargaon: Nalbari (6) Bridge no. 1/1 on Chilling to Jabrihati Road; Bridge no. 1/1 on Tantrasankara to Nalbari town road; Bridge no. 1/1 on Howlighat road over Baralia Jan of Brahmaputra river embankment; Bridge no. 1/1 on Chakla LP School to No. 2 Kandhabari Baralia Pub Par road; Brdige no. 1/1 on Hahdoli to Kendukuchi road; Bridge no. 1/1 on Helosa Kendubari road to Barbila village: Kamrup (2) Bridge No. 1 on Garamsung Na Ali to Borolia Pachim Par (near Gopal Mandir), Bridge No. 1 on Athgaon Kabila road over Puthimari River: Biswanath (1) Bridge No. 1/1 on Majuligarh Madanpur Road: Udalguri (6) Bridge no. 3/2 on Dhupguri to Latakhat, Bridge no. 1/1 on Udalguri Barbengra road to Darangipara, Bridge no. 4/21 on Rongajulikhat to Atelia road, Bridge no. 1/2 on Charanpara to Darogakhat (Simangpuri), Bridge no. 1/3 on Charanpara to Darogakhat (Simangpuri), and Bridge no. 1/1 on Mahalipara to Bhergaon Bus Stand road: Charaideo (3) Bridge No. 20/1 on Rajgarh Road, Brdige No. 2/1 on Rajgarh Road, and Bridge No. 1/1 on Dighalpasi No. 13 Road
