GUWAHATI: Chief Minister
Sarbananda Sonowal has said that the spiritual and cultural ideals of
Srimanta Sankardev will always stay relevant.
Attending Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra's 21st New Year's Festival here on Friday, that the Kalakshetra is not only a cultural and spiritual centre, but it is on the way to evolve into a world stage.
Calling on the people to contribute in the objective of setting up a society based on unity, harmony and brotherhood, Sonowal said that one can draw strength from devotion and harmony. He also stressed the importance of respecting parents, elderly citizens and teachers for achieving inner peace, and said that the younger generations must be motivated and guided with the intellectual, cultural and spiritual ideals of the mentor (Gurujana). He also spoke about the need for further research of Gurujana's works and various aspects of his life.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the steps taken by the State Government to preserve the Namghars and Xatras through the Asom Darshan Scheme for strengthening the moral values of the society. He also stressed inculcating humanitarian values in shaping the future citizens and said in times of uncertainties brought about by a pandemic like COVID-19, the society must stay alert and cautious to contain the spread of the virus while strictly following all COVID-19 protocols.
The Chief Minister felicitated artistes Sudakshina Sarma, Kirtikamal Bhuyan, Kula Baruah, Jyotinath Bordoloi and Dr. Amiya Mohan Das in today's programme.
