GUWAHATI: Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have greeted the people of Assam on the occasion of Diwali with an appeal to celebrate the festival without firecrackers.
"Let us all celebrate cracker less, green Deepavali by following all COVID 19 safety protocols," Prof Mukhi said. He urged all not to make any religious gatherings and pray to the Almighty for good fortune of all.
In a message, the Chief Minister said that the festival of lights signifies the triumph of good over evil and serves to dispel darkness and ignorance from society. He urged the people to make the festival more illuminating yet safe taking forward the government's avowed goal of making Assam a pollution-free State.
