GUWAHATI: Senior journalist Aiyushman Dutta, writer and founder of Guwahati International Music Festival succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday. Dutta was an integral part of The Sentinel newspaper as its Feature Editor of Melange, the Sunday supplement.

The Sentinel group offered its deepest condolences at the demise of the journalist, and sympathy to the bereaved family members. He was born in November 1985.

Dutta was admitted to a city nursing on Saturday following complaints of cough and fever. He tested COVID-positive while in hospital. He was admitted to the ICU but he breathed his last at around 6.40 pm on Monday.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal deeply condoled the premature demise of Aiyushman Dutta.

In a statement, Sonowal said with the untimely demise of Dutta the State has lost a promising and young journalist.

"While expressing my heartfelt condolences, I convey my empathy with the bereaved family and pray to God for eternal peace of the departed soul. I also pray to God to be with the bereaved family at these trying times", Sonowal added.

Guwahati Press Club also condoled the demise of the journalist.
