GUWAHATI: Seven companies have come forward to manufacture ethanol in Assam with an investment of Rs 1,159 crore. Out of these seven companies, the Assam Government has allotted land to six.

Moreover, to facilitate these companies, the Industries and Commerce department has set up a 24 x 7 support centre. The annual capacity of the proposed seven manufacturing units is 970 KLD with planned investment of Rs 1,159 crore which will generate 1,000 direct and 4,000 indirect employment. The investments will come under the Assam Ethanol Production Promotion Policy 2021.

Two manufacturing units have been allotted land in the industrial park at Goalpara Matia while one unit each will come up at Sipajhar, Dhing, Balipara and Tinsukia.

To facilitate the ethanol proponents, the Industries and Commerce department has started a 24 x 7 support centre for the entities to obtain approval and clearance.

The investors of the seven manufacturing units met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday and discussed with him how they planned to go about setting up the units.
