In pursuance of the May 6, 2021 order of the Supreme Court of India, the State Health and Family Welfare Department has set up a five-member committee to effectively monitor the allocation and supply of medical oxygen and its distribution within the state.

Monitor Oxygen Allocation & Supply in Assam: In pursuance of the May 6, 2021 order of the Supreme Court of India, the State Health and Family Welfare Department has set up a five-member committee to effectively monitor the allocation and supply of medical oxygen and its distribution within the state.

Therefore, the sub-group on auditing medical oxygen for the State should ensure accountability for proper distribution of oxygen supplies.

Notably, out of the five members of the committee, two are nominated by the Government of India. They are Dr Minhaz Alam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Kerala; Dr M.I.Z. Ansari, Deputy CCE, Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation; Dhruba Jyoti Bora, Joint Secretary, the Government of Assam & Additional Director of Medical Education; Dr Faiza Ahmed, Professor of Anesthesiology, GMCH, Guwahati, and Dr Priyam Saikia, Assistant Professor, GMCH, Guwahati.
