KOKRAJHAR: The police have so far arrested ten members of the newly-floated militant outfit – United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB) – from the BTR.

Talking to media persons at Kokrajhar on Friday, BTC IGP Dr LR Bishnoi said that as many as 10 members of the ULB, including self-styled commander-in-chief Ringkhang Basumatary of Chirang district, were arrested so far. He said that many inputs came out after the arrest of Ringkhang Basumatary and s cadre, Danswrang Basumatary of Baksa. Out of the ten arrested, eight are from the Kokrajhar district while one each is from Chirang and Baksa districts, he said. He further said that a member of the United Gorkha People's Organization (UGPO) was also held along with the ULB revels in the Baksa district on Thursday.

Bishnoi called upon the misguided cadres of the new outfit to return to the mainstream of society. He also appealed to all sections of people, including educated and responsible citizens, to stop airing hate messages and provocative statements. He also called upon all to inform or report to the police and other security agencies regarding acts of crime or violence for swift action.

For the first time, a group of youths in combat fatigue claimed to have formed the ULB on September 15 and they threatened to attack and plant bombs if the police continued to kill innocent Bodo people.
