A CORRESPONDENT
BOKAJAN: Two persons, including a Nagaland IRBn personnel, were arrested with 12.3 kg of pangolin scales and 12 Tokay Gecko in Bokajan on Sunday.
Based on specific information, a team comprising sleuths of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Bokajan Police and Forest officials intercepted a car near Bokajan ASEB office; and seized the live animals and parts of endangered species listed in the 'Wildlife (Protection) Act-1972'.
The arrested persons have been identified as Khoto Rhakho of Phek and Ilungheu Kuame of Peren in Nagaland. Khoto Rhakho is an IRBn personnel while Ilungheu Kuame is a student by profession.
Further investigations are in progress to trace potential buyers of the articles and other people involved in the trafficking of wildlife.
