Uday Umesh Lalit takes oath as 49th Chief Justice of India

NEW DELHI: Justice Uday Umesh Lalit on Saturday took oath as the 49th Chief Justice of India (CJI). President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath during a brief ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Justice UU Lalit will have a 74-day tenure as CJI. He is the second CJI who was directly elevated to the Supreme Court bench from the Bar. (Agencies)
