GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Guwahati today. He is on a three-day visit to the state on the completion of one year by the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government in Assam.

Briefing the schedule of Shah's visit, the Chief Minister said, "The Union Home Minister will visit the India-Bangladesh border in the Dhubri-Mankachar sector in the morning of May 9. He will review border fencing and other border issues. In the afternoon, he will attend in a BSF programme at Tamulpur. He will inaugurate a census office at Amingaon after that. In the evening, he will inaugurate the Cardiothoracic & Neurosciences (CN) Centre in front of the GMCH."

The Chief Minister further said, "On May 10, Shah will present the President Colour Award to the Assam Police at a function at Nehru Stadium here. At noon, he will address a BJP rally on the occasion of the completion of a year by the State Government. In the evening, he will lay the foundation stones of a 5,000-seater auditorium, the new DC office of Kamrup (M), the office of the Guwahati Police Commissioner, the police reserve in Guwahati and an integrated directorate complex in Guwahati."

He will wind up his visit to the state at night on May 10.
