Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is visiting Assam on a whirlwind tour tomorrow.
Before visiting Assam, Shah arrived at Shillong on Thursday and attended a programme in neighbouring Meghalaya.
According to sources, Amit Shah will arrive in Tezpur, Assam, tomorrow afternoon from Shillong. At 4.30 PM, he is slated to visit the Mahabhairab temple in Tezpur for Darshan and Swachhata Sewa. After that, he will attend a cultural programme dedicated to Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika at Tezpur University. He is also slated to spend the night in Tezpur.
The next day, on January 20, he will take part in the 60th Raising Day of Sashastra Seema Bal at SSB Complex, Tezpur, followed by his participation in the 13th Triennial Conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha at Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur.
At the end of his official visit to Sonitpur, he will embark on a flight to Guwahati in the afternoon.
While in Guwahati, he is scheduled to participate in three programmes organized by the state government. The first is the passing-out parade of 2,551 Assam Police Commandos at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati. This will be followed by the launch of the book 'Assam's Braveheart Lachit Barphukan' at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium, Guwahati.
In the evening, at 6.00 PM, he will be present at the Inauguration of the Brahmaputra Riverfront project on the banks of the Brahmaputra at Guwahati.
After winding up his official engagements, Amit Shah is due to depart for New Delhi.
Before his visit to Assam on Friday, the Union Home Minister will participate in the 71st Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council at the State Convention Centre in Shillong, Meghalaya, in the morning. After that, he will attend the 11th meeting of the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) Society at the same venue at 1.30 PM.
