Shah talks with Sonowal
GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a telephonic discussion with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday evening, and took stock of the present situation at Assam-Mizoram boundary. Shah enquired about the steps taken by the State government to defuse tension at the boundary, and said that the Union Home Ministry has initiated steps for maintaining peace at the Assam-Mizoram border.
During the interaction, Chief Minister Sonowal apprised the Union Home Minister of the steps taken by Assam government for normalizing situation at the boundary. He informed that senior- level discussions to address the issue have already begun between the two States. Chief Minister Sonowal also informed that Mizoram CM Zoramthanga during a telephonic talk earlier had assured him to take positive steps for bolstering peace along the inter-State boundary and strengthen brotherhood among the people of both the States.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sonowal has given directions to ensure seamless movement of trucks and other vehicles through the inter-State border, stated a release.
