GUWAHATI/HAFLONG/NAGAON/LAKHIMPUR: Seven candidates from Assam cracked the UPSC Mains in 2022, including one who made it to the top five ranks. This (with rank 5) is a never-before feat for the state.

The candidate holding the 5th rank is Mayur Hazarika from Tezpur. The other six are Anjali Bhardwaj (ranked 271) from Guwahati, Md. Idul Ahmed (ranked 298) from Guwahati, V. Soilemthang Vaiphei (ranked 619) from Jonai, Dikha Langthasa (ranked 664) from Dima Hasao, Nivedita Das (ranked 848) from Guwahati, and Manasjyoti Das (ranked 881) from Namrup.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his heartiest congratulations to Mayur Hazarika and said, “By securing the fifth all-India rank, you have made us all so very proud. Your achievement is sterling and will inspire our youths to aspire for the best.”

A correspondent from Nagaon adds: Physician Dr. Mayur Hazarika, a young physician and a resident of Nagaon Milanpur, has secured the 5th position in the UPSC Main Exam. He is the son of PWD’s Assistant Executive Engineer, Krishna Hazarika, and Mousumi Hazarika. Dr. Mayur Hazarika bagged the 10th position in the HSLC Exam from Tezpur Don Bosco High School in 2013.

Dr. Hazarika said, “I hoped to crack the UPSC examination, but getting the fifth rank was beyond my imagination. I did self-study since I was working while preparing for UPSC. I had enrolled for an online course.”

The performance of Dr. Hazarika made the people of Nagaon jubilant.

A correspondent from Lakhimpur adds: Vincent Soilemthang Vaiphei (26), son of Upa Khuplal Vaiphei and Kalpana Vaiphei of Jonai, Dhemaji Vincent’s father was the former principal of Jubilee Model High School in Jonai. Vincent pursued his high school education at Jubilee Model High School and passed the HSLC exam in 2014 with flying colours. He passed the Higher Secondary exam from Jonai Junior Science College in 2016 and then studied a degree course at Cotton College, Guwahati. He graduated from Cotton College in 2019.

A correspondent from Haflong adds: Diksha Langthasa, daughter of Jogesh Langthasa and Sharda Langthasa, brought laurel to Dima Hasao.

The 26-year-old Diksha hails from Haflong, and she did her schooling in Bengaluru. She graduated from Delhi University and did her postgraduate work in economics at JNU.

NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa congratulated Diksha Langthasa. She had already passed the civil service exam earlier in 2018 and placed 708th. Currently, she is working as the Assistant Controller of Accounts at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
