GUWAHATI: The Vidya Bharati Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, has offered the State government its school buildings having all infrastructures to be used as isolation centres to combat the threat posed by COVID-19.
The Vidya Bharati Shishu Shiksha Samiti is the educational wing of the RSS (Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh). It has as many as 556 schools in the State.
Talking to The Sentinel on Monday, the organizing general secretary of Vidya Bharati Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, Hemanta Dhing Mazumdar said, “Since the State government is spending money for the construction of isolation centres, we’ve have extended this offer. Three hundred of our schools have adequate infrastructures. They can be used as isolation centres with minimal cost. Since classes have been closed because of the lockdown, we’ve no problem in extending such a help.”
On the loss of imparting lessons to the students, Mazumdar said, “We’re contemplating on doing something tangible to make up the loss.”
Mazumdar appealed to the people of the State to stay safe indoors during the lockdown.
