Digboi's Tai Ahom community pays tribute to Tarun Gogoi

People of Digboi lit diyas (earthen lamps) to pay homage to the former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who passed away on Monday. Diyas were also lit to celebrate Lachit Divas celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Veer Lachit Borphupan. (Lachit Divas is celebrated on November 24, the valiant fighter's birthday). Tributes were paid by leaders of the Tai Ahom community. Prayers were held, candles were lit and photographs were garlanded as a mark of respect. People from the Tai Ahom community held similar prayer service at several parts of Assam.
