GORESWAR: A Swachhata action plan programme was organized by Green Environment Task Force with the support of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at Kawli High School on Wednesday in Baksa district. Mun Bhattarai, the headmaster of Kawli High School, presided over the programme and Debajit Borah, coordinator of Green Environment Task Force, explained the purpose of the programme.

In his speech, Debajit Borah spoke in details about the programme, activities and benefits. He said that awareness was must for a healthy environment and mind. "We should make the public aware about the importance of good health and good environment around us," he said. "The messages of this programme should be carried to our neighbouring villages," he added. Mask distribution, tree sapling plantation, soap distribution, hand washing demonstration, distribution of leaflets on Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) activities were done in the programme.

Attending the programme, Gitika Muchahary, IEC consultant of Baksa PHE division, spoke on proper sanitation and hygienic practices during the coronavirus pandemic. She also highlighted the importance of safe drinking water, visual cleanliness, benefits of using sanitary toilets by every household and segregation of waste materials.
